In Memoriam: Erik Eriksson

(Richard) Erik Eriksson, 68, of Egg Harbor, WI passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2008. This is a sad time and one of great loss for all who knew him. Erik was known throughout the country as music critic, educator, writer and speaker on an eclectic number of topics. He was also owner, publisher and editor of The Northeast Wisconsin Music Review: Classical and Jazz. Erik was a thinker and doer; he was recognized as an ethical and honest person.

 Erik was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Marie and Erik Joel Eriksson, and one son Michael Schottenloher. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, another son Michael Eriksson and a grandson, Brandon Schottenloher.

Born in Aurora, IL, Erik resided there until he and Nancy relocated to Door County in 1993. Prior to moving to Door County, Erik was Credit Manager of Aurora Beacon News.


A “Celebration of Erik’s Life and Love of Music” will be held July 1, 2008 at 4 pm at the Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Egg Harbor.

Erik requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to any of the following: Birch Creek Music Center, Midsummer’s Music, Washington Island Music Festival, Edward Collins Fund for American Music, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County or the Door County Cancer Center.
