In Support of Local School Employees

Although we can’t begin to know what our local school district employees are up against while working in their schools as educators, cafeteria workers, building maintenance workers and other school personnel during these first weeks of school, we do know this: What you are doing is hard. You are going to work every day in a physically uncertain environment. The Delta variant of the coronavirus makes every human encounter a risk to your health and the health of all those with whom you come in contact.

No one wants students out of school, so we all understand that the decisions made by administrators and the school boards were difficult. However, you are the ones facing, on a daily basis, all of the challenges that typically happen in school during normal times, with the added pressure of the virus and the possibility of illness. Understand that we are aware of your challenges (some of us are retired educators), and we are with you.

We hope it helps you to know that we care about what you are doing and have some small understanding of how difficult it must be for you. We wish the best for you and your students.
