Inaugural Sugar Creek Showdown is set for June 1

The Southern Door Business Association will host the inaugural Sugar Creek Showdown on June 1, 11 am – 6 pm. This family friendly good time will be held at Sugar Creek County Park, located on County N in Gardner.

Watch Southern Door’s very own talent come to life as Miss Outstanding Teen, Abbigayle Grosbeier, presents the first Sugar Creek Royalty Pageant. Youngsters, ages 4 to 12 years old, will bring their talents to the stage and compete in the following categories: on stage presence, community involvement/service, casual wear, talent, and onstage question. This royal competition takes place from 12 – 2 pm.

Door County Idol winner Luke Spude will host a battle of the bands competition with Southern Door School students up against the local celebrity John Welch. Judging will be based on how much money is raised by each performer. Friends, family and all in attendance are encouraged to show support for their favorite musical act by placing a tip in the jars on stage. Money raised will be donated to the Southern Door music department. This event takes place 3 – 5 pm with winners announced at 5:30 pm.

More highlights include: a bounce house, tattooing, Frisbee golf course, food, beverages, and a dunk tank with Steve Bousley (Southern Door High School Principal) and Justin Tlachac (Southern Door PE Teacher).
