Influenced by Africa

Jewelry by Lori Schappe-Youens.

Lori Schappe-Youens grew up in the Midwest and then spent 20 years in Africa, which has blended her art into an interesting mix. From the jewelry to the anthropomorphic paintings and sculpture – every piece is a journey into her (sometimes wacky) interior landscape. Humor, pain, longing and travel, interweave their way into her creations, giving the viewer a bit of deeper insight. Schappe-Youens shows her work in South Africa, Santa Fe, and now at Cappaert Contemporary Gallery in Egg Harbor. The gallery is located at 7901 Hwy. 42 and features the work of 30 regional and national artists working in painting, clay, sculpture, mixed media and jewelry. The gallery is open daily at 10 am through October. For more information, call 920.868.3987 or visit
