Informational Meeting Feb. 28 on Holiday Harbor Progress

Town Administrator Travis Thyssen will host a Feb. 28 question-and-answer session about plans for the former Holiday Harbor property. Voters approved the purchase of the property for $3.5 million in November 2021.

“The Harbor Commission has done some preliminary investigations and come up with a few ideas,” Thyssen said, “but has not taken any action yet.”

The town hired an outside firm to inspect the cottages and home on the property. Thyssen also dispelled rumors that the town is shopping the property. When the town agreed on a purchase offer, it outflanked another interested investor who was most interested in the street-front portion of the parcel. That investor expressed interest in potentially purchasing the streetside portion, so the town has investigated whether it has the option to split the parcel.

“What we’re trying to do is gather a lot of information that we can present to the board and residents,” Thyssen said. “Nothing has been decided other than that we’re going to use the parking lot one more year.”
