Inn at Kristofer’s “Hawaii Five O”

Kona Kampachi, macadamia nuts, pineapple and Ahi tuna will be on the menu at the Inn at Kristofer’s on Friday, April 24, for the restaurant’s “Hawaii Five O” five-course gourmet dinner and cooking class event.

“There are so many wonderful ingredients from Hawaii that I thought it would be fun to put together a five-course dinner and demonstration cooking class featuring them,” explained chef and restaurant co-owner Terri Milligan.

“In addition to ingredients which people will recognize, such as Ahi tuna, coconut and pineapple, I will also be using a terrific sustainable Hawaiian fish called Kona Kampachi. This delicate fish has a white flesh and is similar in flavor to halibut, though it comes from a much smaller fish.” Milligan continues, “I recently started using Kona much more in the restaurant since it has become readily available and is sustainable.”

The event begins with a complimentary champagne cocktail consisting of champagne and passion fruit puree. The exciting menu begins with an Ahi tuna duet of tuna ginger tartar and seared Ahi tuna with cilantro vinaigrette, mangos and cucumbers. The salad is a twist on the classic caprese salad with mango and fresh mozzarella dressed in a passion fruit and fresh vanilla vinaigrette. After a cleansing of coconut sorbet, enjoy the main feature of fresh Kona Kampachi served with a coconut curry broth. The fish will be encrusted with macadamia nuts and seared, then finished in the oven. For dessert, enjoy caramelized pineapple with French Vanilla ice cream and caramel brittle.

The price of $60 per person includes the cooking demonstration class, five-course gourmet dinner, two glasses of wine specially selected for each course, a copy of all the recipes and sale tax. The special dinner and class begins at 6 pm and is limited to 20 people.

The Inn at Kristofer’s is open nightly for dinner beginning at 5 pm. The restaurant is closed Tuesday evenings through mid May. From May through October, the restaurant is open nightly. The restaurant will remain open to the public on Friday, April 24 and will be serving its traditional evening menu in addition to hosting the Hawaii Five O special event.
