Inn at Kristofer’s Presents “Shell Game”

The first gourmet dinner and cooking class for 2010 at the Inn at Kristofer’s in Sister Bay has been announced by chef Terri Milligan. The “Shell Game” five-course gourmet dinner and cooking class is slated for Friday, February 19 at 6 pm.

The “Shell Game” will begin with a one-hour cooking demonstration by Chef Milligan in the restaurant’s second floor cooking classroom. Following the demonstration class, guests will be seated in the restaurant’s main dining room overlooking the waters of Green Bay to enjoy the five-course dinner paired with two wines selected by restaurant co-owner Kris Milligan.

“Shellfish is something that not all home cooks are comfortable with, ” explained Chef Milligan. “Hopefully the class will help individuals attending feel more comfortable preparing fresh shellfish at home, as well as [feel] more knowledgeable about sustainable seafood.”

Recipes to be demonstrated in the class include a first course duet of Blue Point oysters featuring an Asian style preparation and a Midwestern preparation. A salad of fresh greens with a mango vanilla vinaigrette and a palate cleanser of homemade sorbet will precede the main course, which will be a fricassee of shellfish flavored with fresh ginger and lemongrass. The entree uses mussels, shrimp and clams, so participants will be able to experience the taste of a variety of shellfish. For dessert, Chef Milligan will prepare one of her favorite lemon creations – a lemon lover’s tart that features a layer of lemon custard topped with lemon curd and garnished with fresh berries

The cost of the Shell Game event is $68 per person and includes the one-hour demonstration cooking class, the five-course dinner with two wine pours, a copy of all the recipes and sales tax. Seating is limited to 24 people. To register, call the Inn at Kristofer’s at 920.854.9419.

In addition to the February shellfish event, Chef Milligan is also offering an Italian gourmet dinner and cooking class in March, a Spring Lamb class in April and a culinary weekend held in conjunction with the Church Hill Inn in May. For more information visit http://www.innatkristofers.com.
