Inspiration in the Door

The Door County Art League (DCAL) Gallery features the artwork of Sherry Mutchler and Penny Pfister, Aug. 2 – 8.

As a watercolorist, Mutchler says her goal is to capture the colors of nature in Door County. Primarily self-taught, she has also taken classes with Ed Fenendael, Bridget Austin and Phil Austin.

Pfister paints in watercolor and oils her favorite sights around the county: old buildings, boats, sky, trees, grasses, cherries and the beauty of the water.

The DCAL gallery is open every day except Wednesday from 11 am to 5 pm (3 pm on Sundays). It is located in the rear courtyard of the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek.

The 28th Annual Door County Art League Members Showcase opens with a gala reception at the Meadows Gallery at Scandia Village in Sister Bay on Aug. 2, from 4:30 – 7 pm. The juried awards and people’s choice selection will be announced during the reception. The evening’s festivities culminate with the announcement of the 2014 Master Artist.
