Installation at The English Inn

As summer returns to the Door Peninsula, life, activity – and art – seem to spring up all around. The new installation in front of The English Inn restaurant in Fish Creek attests to just what can be accomplished in a Door County winter.

Randy Daubner, owner of The English Inn, approached Austin Ohm and Cy Turndbladh of Hands On Art Studio with the idea for the project, hoping to create a visual impact with knights atop horses at the entryway of his restaurant.

With a little help from the Internet to research the endeavor, the medieval design was set in motion. In total, hundreds of individual pieces were assembled to create the two armor-clad knights atop armor-clad horses.

Started in mid-January, the project came to fruition just before Memorial Day Weekend when the two pieces were installed. Over 300 hours were spent perfecting the life-size creation.

With their torches lifted high, the two artistic masterpieces frame the entryway of the restaurant and create quite a presence on the patio.
