The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and its partners invite the public to help search for aquatic invasive species on Aug. 19, which is Aquatic Invasive Species Snapshot Day. This free, fun, hands-on effort relies on volunteers to monitor streams, lakes and wetlands at designated sites across the state for signs of nonnative plants and animals.
Participants may register for one of 20-plus event locations hosted by local conservation groups. Last year, more than 150 volunteers monitored more than 234 sites statewide. This event is recommended for ages 8 and older, and adults must accompany minors.
