This summer, Friends of Crossroads meet at 10 am each Saturday for a couple hours of invasive species work. They meet this month on July 21 with the target area right along Big Creek. The group will meet at the Hanson House just off Utah Street. Bring water, gloves and loppers if you have them. New volunteers are welcome. They also encourage individuals to adopt a small area.
Crossroads Family Programs continue July 24 at 10 am with an “Insect Safari.” Guests use an insect net and hand lens (provided) to learn about the insects that live in the meadows of Big Creek Preserve. This program is suitable for all ages.
The July 25 program, “Gift of the Glaciers,” starts at 10 am. Discover how the Great Lakes were formed and learn about the creatures that live in our own inland seas. Suitable for all ages. Meet in the Collins Learning Center.
On July 26 at 10 am, guests can explore the fields and gardens of Crossroads. Learn to use a hand lens and collecting net. Suitable for all ages. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.
