Isadoora Theatre Company announced the cast for its upcoming production of Striking 12, which features music by Valerie Vigoda and Brendan Milburn, book by Rachel Sheinkin. Directed by Janet Anderson, the musical will play Feb. 9 – 12 and 16 – 19 at Juniper Hall at Birch Creek Music Performance Center. Thursday through Saturday performances will be at 7:30 pm with Sunday matinees at 2 pm.
The cast for Striking 12 features the talents of Ann Birnschein, Lauren Gilmore, Andy Hall, Hervy Hodges, Hans Ribbens, and Anne St. Henry. All are veterans of Isadoora productions; most recently, Ribbens appeared in Isadoora’s Eclipse of the Soul (October 2011) and Hall appeared in the company’s Waiting for Lefty (May 2011). The other cast members last appeared in an Isadoora’s musical production of She Loves Me. The band will include Janet Anderson, Annie Barles, Michael Bleck, Craig McClelland, and Bruce Newbern.
Striking 12 is the story of a grumpy guy who resolves not to celebrate New Year’s Eve. His plans are interrupted by a door-to-door saleswoman and accompanying inspiration to read Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Match Girl. When he finds the story to have a less-than-happy ending, he is moved to make someone else’s holiday, which in turn makes his own.
