Isadoora Theatre Company Ends 2018 Season with ‘Helen’

Isadoora Theatre Company will end their 2018 season with Helen by Ellen McLaughlin, adapted from the play by Euripides. “The play provides an opportunity for actors to immerse themselves in both a classical and more contemporary world simultaneously, in the unique time travel elements inherent in McLaughlin’s adaptation,” said Director and Isadoora Board Member, Richard Carlson.

In this fresh take on Euripides’ tragicomedy, Helen never went to Troy but spent the war fought in her name in an Egyptian hotel room waiting for her husband Menelaus to come find her and take her home. In her odd exile, Helen receives visits from Io and Athena, who informs her of the devastation that Helen’s empty image has wrought upon the world.

Carrie Counihan, Amanda Sallinen, Laurie Conrad and Vance Toivonen are the cast members of Helen. Performance dates are Oct. 26-28 and Nov. 2-4. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm, with Sunday shows at 2 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Helen is performed at the Inside/Outside space of the Margaret Lockwood Gallery in Sturgeon Bay. For more information or to reserve tickets call 920.495.5940.
