Island Players Perform “Moon Over Buffalo”

Broadway comes to Washington Island with humor and style when the Island Players perform Moon Over Buffalo at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center on July 6, 7 and 8 at 7:30 pm.

“The play is really a love letter to all people who love the theater,” said Joyce Morehouse, managing director of Island Players, the island’s only theater company, which was founded in 1984. “It is the story of the ups and downs of actors’ lives – the injured egos and the passion for performing that drives these very real and eccentric people.”

Ken Ludwig wrote the play in 1995 and its Broadway performance marked the return of Carol Burnett to the Broadway stage. The action and dialogue are fast-paced and the actors are constantly feuding and resolving their conflicts as they perform in a repertory theater.

The Island Players cast includes Howard Scott, Carissa Mann, Lillie May Shadle, Hannah Johnson, Oliver Hansen, Rylee Johnson, Nick Knudsen and Ham Rutledge.

Advance tickets will be available for purchase on June 23 at Washington Island’s Recreational Center and the Red Cup. Tickets are $12 general admission and $6 for middle and senior high school students. The play is not recommended for elementary school children.
