Jack Bunda to be remembered July 30

• A memorial service for John W. “Jack” Bunda will be held Satuday, July 30 at St. Rosalia’s Catholic Church in Sister Bay at 11 am. Bunda, a longtime Northern Door County businessman and community leader, died March 29 at age 76. He was a founding father of Scandia Village, a vital contributor in the effort to build the Sister Bay village marina, co-chaired Marina Fest in its early days, and built and operated the Sister Bay Pharmacy in the Country Walk Shopping Center, in which he was an investor and builder.

For many years he personally dropped the ping pong balls over the crowds of Sister Bay’s Fall Festival while riding in a helicopter, an idea he originated.

He also served on the Sister Bay Village Board and was a member of Baylake Bank’s Board of Directors for 35 years.

• The Village of Egg Harbor will host a community meeting Aug. 4 from 6 – 8 pm at the Bertschinger Community Center. Attendees will discuss current village issues, capital planning, and village officials will gather citizen feedback.

• The Liberty Grove Town Board will hold a listening session Aug. 11 at the Liberty Grove Town Hall at 7 pm. Residents are invited to voice opinions on town matters.

The town is also planning a waste-reduction day for Aug. 6. The town will be accepting computer and household appliances for recycling at the town hall at 11161 Old Stage Rd. from 9 am – 1 pm.

All computer components will be accepted, household appliances, TV and stereo components. There will be a $10 charge for the following items: computer monitors, small televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners and other items with Freon in them. There will be a $15 fee for large screen TVs. Florescent lights will not be accepted.

The town will also accept paper for shredding, limited to three banker boxes of material. Call the town office at 920.854.2934 with questions.

• The Door County Ad Hoc Senior Resource Center Building Committee has set dates for public listening sessions. The sessions will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2, with the first one in Forestville from 10:30 – 11:30 am at Bay View Terrace South, 178 E. Park Street.

The Northern Door Listening Session will be held at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall at the corner of Highway 57 and County F from 1:30 – 3 pm
