Jack O’Lantern Days, Dark Songs & More Halloween Weekend Happenings

October’s final weekend is nearly upon us and with it comes Halloween celebrations and the final days of some of the peninsula’s seasonal galleries and shops. Head out to enjoy these businesses while the lights are on and when the sun begins to set, enjoy one of the haunted Halloween offerings with our guide to Halloween Happenings.

Friday, October 28

Celebrate Science

The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society teams up with Crossroads at Big Creek’s Door County Science Festival to present a Harry Potter-based astronomy program. 7 pm.

Highland Road

Enjoy the bluegrass-country-folk tunes of the Highland Road foursome during an evening at The Cookery in Fish Creek. 7 pm.

Dark Songs

After a week of spin-the-bottle and collaborative songwriting, this week’s batch of songwriting monsters will take the stage at Third Avenue Playhouse on Friday and Saturday to share their dark and creepy creations with the public. $5 entry fee. 7:30 pm.

Saturday, October 29

Final Gallery Weekend of 2016

Many of Door County’s seasonal galleries will close after this weekend, so make sure to get out to the ones you’ve been meaning to visit since May!

Jack O’Lantern Days

Help put the ‘eek’ in Fish Creek with this annual hometown Halloween celebration! Make a mask, carve a pumpkin and take part in the haunting Halloween parade before descending on the town for an afternoon of trick or treating.

Thrills on Third

Head to Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay for a day full of festive late-autumn fun. Activities include pumpkin painting, a costume parade and contest, and trick or treating downtown.

Haunted Mansion

It’s your last chance to head to Quietwoods South for the 11th annual Haunted Mansion! Make your way through a corn maze and haunted woods before boarding a crazy clown-infested bus on your way to the final destination – the haunted mansion! 7 pm.

Sunday, October 30

Autumn in Algoma

Head south to enjoy your favorite storybook characters at the Fairytale Trail in Algoma and while you’re in the area, stop by the Flying Pig’s fantastic fall farmers market to find organic, locally-grown produce, honey, eggs, meat, preserves and more! 10 am.
