The Jacksonport Farmers Market opened for its first Tuesday market of the season May 16. The weekly market at Lakeside Park runs from 9 am to 1 pm and will run through October.
The market features nearly 30 booths with many local produce growers with a wide variety of fresh garden fare each week. Fruits and vegetable vary with the season and there will be more variety available as the weather warms up. The market also features locally made breads, sweet rolls, pies and other tasty desserts, candy and sweet treats to please every shopper.
Local craftspeople also show a variety of hand-crafted gifts, clothing and accessories. Visitors will also find a great variety of jams, jellies, meat, eggs, honey, cut flowers, hand-made soaps, plants and many interesting gifts and items for the home. Mary and Bob Geitner from Mr. G’s provide great brats, hot dogs, beverages and snacks.
Music will be offered weekly featuring Marybeth Mattson, the Birch Creek Jazz Band or Jerry Voelker for all to enjoy once the weather warms up.
The Jacksonport Farmers Market is sponsored by the Jacksonport Area Business Association.
