Jacksonport Historical Society Holds Historic Cabins Walk

Eighteen homes will be featured in Jacksonport Historical Society’s (JHS) Historic Cabins Walk on Aug. 5. The all-day event is divided into three segments of 90 minutes each, starting at 9:15 am and ending at 3:30 pm. Visitors may choose individual segments or sign on for all three.

The oldest of the year-round homes in the village date from the 19th century, while the earliest seasonal residences along the shore are log cabins that were constructed in the 1920s. Although almost all of the older buildings have been renovated, one small cottage is still without modern facilities, except electricity.

Proceeds benefit JHS’s museum development fund. Tickets are available for a donation of $10 per segment or $25 for three segments. They may be obtained from Bley’s Grocery in Jacksonport, mail order from Eileen Roberts (phone: 920.743.6415; [email protected]), and at Cherry Fest. For more information, call Phyllis Zatlin at 920.823.2013 between 8:30 and 10:30 am.
