Jacksonport Historical Society Offers Merchandise at Farmers Markets

The Jacksonport Historical Society (JHS) will have a display of books it’s published about Jacksonport families, posters, prints, notecards and CDs at the town’s July 27 and Aug. 3 farmers markets.

Featured items will include coffee-table books of Fred Erskine’s photographs of Door County during the 20th century and pictures he took in Europe during World War I, serigraphs by artist Joe Cook based on Erskine’s photos, and several of pianist and composer Daniel Meunier’s CDs.

Merchandise discounts are available to those who join the JHS or renew their membership at the farmers market on those two days. Proceeds go to the JHS museum building fund

A special program, “Growing Up and Going to School in Jacksonport,” is also in the works for Sept. 15 at the Town Hall, where a panel of residents who attended the four one-room schoolhouses in the district will share recollections, with Mike Madden as the moderator.
