Jacksonport Neighborhood Association meets

• The Shores of Jacksonport Neighborhood Association (SJNA) met July 3 to discuss Lake Michigan, environmental issues, neighborhood services and other topics of interest to members of the association.

A new slate of directors was elected including Mike Brophy, Kate Siegel, Jim Sarosiek, and Jo Whalen. The meeting was followed by a social reception. The association has 184 members and represents people with property interests on both sides of streets bordering the six miles of Lake Michigan shoreline in the Town of Jacksonport from Whitefish Dunes Park on the south to Sand Dune Shore Street on the north. People within the designated boundaries interested in issues faced by this area and wishing to belong to SJNA should contact Treasurer Eric Wickstrom at 920.823.2800.

• Kyle Cherek, host of Wisconsin Foodie, posted a blog about his Door County discovery for Travel Wisconsin July 5. Cherek wrote about discovering a Door County beyond the well-worn cliché attractions.

“I went in expecting one dimension,” Cherek writes, “quaint till it hurts/fish boil/pottery-glass gift shop/cherries galore kind of Door County. All those things are there to be sure, but so is a great deal more. Think of it like going from black and white to technicolor.” Visit http://www.travelwisconsin.com to read his blog titled “Unexpected Attractions in Door County.”
