Jacksonport Maifest Celebration Returns Memorial Day Weekend

A weekend of fun and excitement is on tap in Jacksonport during Memorial Day weekend, as the community prepares for the 46th annual Maifest celebration. The festivities run May 26 and 27 at Lakeside Park.

On Saturday and Sunday, the day starts with the annual juried arts and craft fair at 9 am. The Maifest Family Midway in Lakeside Park is open for fun starting at 11:30 am on both days and features a variety of inflatable activities and games. Plenty of food and beverages are available throughout the weekend. The concession stand in Lakeside Park offers homemade brats from Bley’s Grocery along with hot dogs, hamburgers, a corn roast, snacks and cold drinks. The Jacksonport Women’s Club food stand offers homemade Kolaches, cookies, funnel cake, deep fried cheese curds, and more.

Event highlights on Saturday include the grand parade at 10:30 am, with this year’s honorary Parade Marshalls Sue and Joe Jarosh. Immediately following the parade, a presentation of the flag is given by V.F.W. Post 3088 in Lakeside Park. A special Maypole dancing ceremony takes place at noon in the park and longtime festival favorite Jerry Voelker & His Jolly Gents perform. The Midway features pony rides by the 4-H Horse & Pony project Saturday only.

Sunday features the Maifest 10k and 2-mile Fun Run/Walk, The Frontier Farmers Horse Pull at 1 pm, and performances by the 4-H Horse and Pony Drill Team and trick roping by local cowboy Chewy. The performance tent showcases the Modern Day Drifters from 11 am – 3 pm. For more information and a complete schedule of events visit Jacksonport.org.
