Jacque Heading to Washington Island

State Sen. André Jacque (R-De Pere) will hold a listening session on Washington Island to report on 2022 legislative activities and answer questions from citizens. He is running for reelection to his District 1 Senate seat against Democratic challenger Andrea Gage-Michaels.

The session will be held Nov. 1, 2-3 pm, in the Rutledge Room of the Community Center, 910 Main Road. It’s a public event open to all Island residents and an opportunity for them to voice their views.

Jacque said he will also spend the day meeting constituents through a series of other events, including visiting with teachers and students at Washington Island High School and touring the Mountain Park watchtower and island infrastructure with Robert Cornell of the Washington Island Electric Cooperative.

“This is an area with distinct environmental, geographic and cultural features that you will not find anywhere else in Wisconsin,” Jacque said. “Its unique attributes also mean that Washington Island has its own special set of issues, such as those surrounding broadband internet access, which I will continue to work with local officials to address.”
