James May Gallery Brings Working Pots Back

James May Gallery presents another year of Working Pots III and the work of Janelle Gramling. Working Pots III runs May 31-July 2 and features 34 national artists presenting utilitarian craft. Mixed media sculpture from Milwaukee artist Janelle Gramling is also be on display. This year’s guest juror is Liz Pechacek, a Minnesota ceramic artist who creates functional, wearable and sculptural work.

Prizes are awarded for Working Pots III during the opening reception. Cash prizes are given to first, second and third place, along with honorable mentions and purchase awards.

Working Pots III participating artists are Christina Bendo, Nara Burgess, Amanda Bury, Clare Burson, Allee Etheridge, Jena Gilbert-Merrill, Seth Green, Laurie Harris, Dane Hodges, Carla Hughes, DeVan Jimenzez, Harrison Levenstein, Nikki Lewis, Chris Lively, Antonio Martinez, John Masello, Scott McClellan, Jacob Meer, Avra Messe, David Morrison, Sarah Nikitopoulos, Paige Otoole, Gretchen Quinn, Shana Salaff, Chanakarn Semachai, Brianna Shimer, Sarah Steininger, Kyla Strid, Lee Stuurmans, Samuel Thompson, Hannah Thompsett, Sara Truman, and artist duo Carly Van Anglen and David Ferro.

The reception is June 1, 5:30 – 8 pm. Local refreshments are provided by von Stiehl Winery and Renard’s Cheese. A free demonstrative workshop by Liz Pechacek will be announced later.

This show coincides with the First Fridays Art Walk in Algoma. Participating locations include Jabberwock Gallery and Studio, Bellaluna’s Apothecary and Boutique, Clay on Steele, and Steele Street Trading Co. and Gallery. For more information visit jamesmaygallery.com.
