Jan Comstock Selected As Finalist

“Mia” by Jan Comstock.

Artwork by Baileys Harbor artist Jan Comstock was selected as a finalist in the Richeson 75 International – Small Works 2013. The exhibit will be displayed through March 22 at the Richeson School of Art and Gallery.

Comstock’s piece is a 12” x 12” oil painting, titled Mia. This same painting was selected as the top 15 percent in the December 2012 BoldBrush Painting competition and will be featured in the upcoming months on informedcollector.com.

According to Comstock, artist’s for centuries have explored the beauty of the unclothed human form. It is one of the most intriguing yet demanding subjects to paint given the fact that viewers are keenly aware of accurate body proportions. Comstock is probably most noted for her figurative artwork as well as her paintings of domestic animals and wildlife.

The Richeson School of Art & Gallery is located at 557 Marcella Street in Kimberly. To view the online exhibit, visit http://www.richeson75.com.
