Janet Planet to Perform at Birch Creek Oct. 1

Janet Planet, a successful jazz singer, will perform at Birch Creek’s Dutton Concert Barn on Oct. 1. This concert joins a continuing run of events in Birch Creek’s Fall Concert Series for Academy Scholarships.

Janet Planet has been singing for more than three decades, steadily building a career that began with a high school talent show performance. Since then, her success has taken her to many preforming arts centers, opera houses, colleges, and jazz festivals across the USA, New York, and abroad. A productive recording artist, Planet has 22 recordings in her discography to date. Jazziz Magazine hailed her as a “Voice of the New Jazz Culture…amazingly powerful with seemingly limitless expression.” Planet is also an avid educator, and an adjunct professor of jazz vocal technique at Lawrence University in Appleton.

Birch Creek’s Fall Concert Series continues Oct. 22, with the Annual Fall Fundraiser Dinner and Concert, featuring the Pangelic Duo with Liam Teague on steel pan and Faye Seeman on harp. A holiday-themed performance will take place on Dec. 3 with select members of Birch Creek’s Percussion and Symphony Brass Faculty. All Fall Concert Series events will fund scholarships for Birch Creek students. Order tickets and view more fall concert information online at birchcreek.org/tickets or call 920.868.3763.
