Jazz Orgy Mixes it up in Sturgeon Bay’s Martin Park

Jazz Orgy will perform as a part of the Harmony by the Bay concert series on July 27 at 7 pm.

Jazz Orgy was formed in 2000 by bassist Andrew Mertens, drummer Peter Buxman and pianist Mark Martin. The original idea was hatched at Peabody’s Ale House in Oshkosh, where Martin and Mertens decided to host a jazz open mic with a special guest every week. In 2005, Mertens and Martin put together the touring band, and a year later drummer Mike Underwood and singer/saxophonist Steve Cooper were added.

The band’s influences are diverse. They will perform a mix of classic jazz, bebop, swing, Latin, blues, funk, R&B, rap, rock, classical and polka.

The concert will take place at the new amphitheatre located on the corner of 3rd Avenue and Oregon Street in Sturgeon Bay. Food and refreshments will be available. All concerts are free to the public, who are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets. In case of rain, concerts will move to The Lodge at Leathem Smith, located at 1640 Memorial Drive.
