Jazz Sax, Peruvian Drum Box and Acrylic Paint Mix It Up

Saturday, July 25 from 2 – 4 pm the Gallery 42 Art and Music Jam will feature Woody Mankowski on sax with Minneapolis percussionist Jake Nyberg on cajon (a Peruvian box drum). Gallery owner Tim Nyberg will paint to the live music and the audience will be invited to throw out challenges such as color and theme for the artists.

Woody Mankowski is an in-demand reed player and vocal chameleon like you’ve never heard before. He might lay down some Ray Charles or Marvin Gaye for the jam. Don’t miss him! Woody’s Web site, http://www.WoodyMankowski.com, has a sampling of what you’ll hear.

Jake Nyberg is an extremely capable drummer with an entertaining style. He spans the gamut of music from jazz and blues to alternative rock. He’s been a welcome addition to the Door County music scene playing with Adam Mackintosh, the Jana Nyberg Group and various groups during the Steel Bridge Song Fest. In the Twin Cities, he performs with several groups and does session work when he’s not busy writing and producing video for Twin Cities advertising agencies (www.ThreeVolts.com).

Painter, Tim Nyberg has been a graphic designer and illustrator for more years than he cares to mention. He opened Gallery 42 three seasons ago and started the Art and Music Jam both because of his love of jazz and as a challenge to capture on canvas what he hears in the music. The event caught on and is now featured every Saturday from 2 – 4 pm through August.

Free admission as always, and free wine to lubricate your viewing and listening experience. Gallery 42 is at the corner of Hwy. 42 and Juddville Road between Egg Harbor and Fish Creek. More information at http://www.GalleryFortyTwo.com or call 920.785.1123.
