Sturgeon Bay resident Jerry Kobishop has announced his candidacy for the 8th Congressional District seat currently held by Reid Ribble. Ribble announced in January that he would not seek a fourth term. Kobishop, a retired Wisconsin Public Service employee and country singer, said if elected he “plans to push for reform in our legal and correctional system.” He plans to announce public events coming up in Marinette, Peshtigo, Green Bay, Appleton, Stevens Point and Sturgeon Bay “at the United Methodist Church to promote church and State working closer together.” Kobishop describes himself as a “moderate Democrat.” He joins Republicans Terry McNulty of Forestville, state Sen. Frank Lasee of De Pere and former Walker adviser Mike Gallagher of Green Bay in announcing for the seat.
