Jeweler Steve Mitchell Visits Turtle Ridge

Turtle Ridge will host guest jeweler Steve Mitchell at their Ellison Bay gallery on Oct. 22 & 23. Mitchell will demonstrate his work in the Turtle Ridge Studio. Come and meet him, see his techniques for setting stones and pick out something special.

Describing his work and inspiration, Mitchell says, “I have collected stones from a very early age. My jewelry work allows me to use my torch, hammers, saws, files, etc. in a creative way. All of my work is hand fabricated in my St. Charles, Ill. studio using sterling and fine silver, and semi-precious stones. I use traditional metalsmithing techniques to form each piece. I buy my stones from individual cutters who cut the stones to display the stone’s finest aspects. I like my designs to look timeworn. This is created by using patinas to create a darkening effect on the silver. I enjoy the challenge of hand fabrication, and feel satisfaction knowing that each of my pieces is a truly unique one of a kind adventure in wearable art.”

Turtle Ridge, located at 11736 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay, is open 10 am to 5 pm daily. For more information call 920.854.4839.
