Jim Rossol Shows Work at Glas through November

The fine art photography of Jim Rossol will be on display at Glas, the green coffeehouse, in Sturgeon Bay now through Nov. 30.

Rossol’s photographs depict an interpretation of his visual world and can be either representational or abstract. He intends for his representational work to inspire a new awareness and appreciation of familiar things layered with emotional and textural interpretation. By placing emphasis on line and shape, the Baileys Harbor resident offers viewers a new way of seeing familiar objects or settings, or awareness of something they have never seen. Along with capturing images in Door County, Rossol also shoots on his other favorite peninsula, Mexico’s Yucatán.

Rossol has received several honors for his photography, including third place in photography in the 2015 Hal Prize competition as well as second place and judge’s choice in the 2010 Around the County photo contest. His work has frequently been juried into shows in Door County, including at the Peninsula School of Art’s Guenzel Gallery and the Hardy Gallery in Ephraim. Glas is open 7 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, 8 am to 3 pm Saturday and 8:30 am to 2 pm Sunday. Glas is located at 67 East Maple St., Suite B, next to Cellcom in Sturgeon Bay.
