As Jim Schuessler, executive director of the Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC), leaves the county to become the executive director of Yuma [Arizona] Multiversity – an urban education hub for existing institutions of higher education – he reflected on his 18-month tenure.
“As both a broadcaster and economic-development professional,” he said, “I have been blessed by being a part of amazing organizations, yet the work [that] Team DCEDC is achieving here, and being a part of this team, has been the most rewarding and meaningful in my career. It has been a privilege to develop Team DCEDC, a group that has already achieved great results and is poised for even greater impacts in the future.”
Under Schuessler’s leadership as DCEDC’s third executive director since its 1989 inception, the organization was completely rebuilt, rebranded and reinvigorated into a mission-focused economic-development organization.
The search for his replacement is underway, led by search-committee chair Patti Vickman. A new executive director is expected to be on board by late February.
