John Berns Named Eagles Head Baseball Coach

Southern Door has filled its head varsity baseball coaching position with someone who has past high school baseball head coaching experience.

Athletic director Mark Jonas said the school board selected John Berns to replace Dave Neinas, who resigned last month.

Berns, who played baseball at Southern Door during the 1960s and was also inducted this year into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame, previously was a head baseball coach at both Sevastopol and Sturgeon Bay.

The Eagles, who won the Packerland Conference baseball title the past two seasons, are scheduled to open the season April 1 with a home doubleheader against Sevastopol.
