Join Door County Bee Keepers for Presentation at Crossroads

Join the Door County Bee Keepers Club in welcoming Dr. Becky Masterman, Assistant Extension Professor and Program Director for the UMN Bee Squad, as she presents, “Keeping Bees Healthy: Updates on Bee Research, Management and Mite Check,” on April 25, 6:45 pm, at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay. A potluck will be held from 6 to 6:45 pm.

Masterman will share bee management tips with the latest research from the UMN and other Bee Labs. She will also share why the Varroa destructor mite is considered by many to be the number one threat to honey bees and how we can work together to address the issue. The public is welcome. Donations will be accepted.

Masterman has led the UMN Bee Squad program since 2013. She graduated from UMN-Twin Cities first with a BA (major in history, minor in biology) and then obtained a Ph.D. in Entomology under the direction of Dr. Marla Spivak studying honeybee hygienic behavior and neurobiology. Masterman leads a talented and growing Bee Squad team that provides bee outreach to beekeepers and the public in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota and beyond.
