Join Sturgeon Bay’s First Friday Artwalk

The First Friday Artwalk in downtown Sturgeon Bay will take place October 7 from 5 – 8 pm. First Friday Artwalks are held on the first Friday of every month at galleries and businesses in many downtown communities across the country.

In hopes of starting a community tradition in Sturgeon Bay, HELP of Door County, Inc. is working with downtown businesses to pilot the county’s first, First Friday gathering. The main objective of these art walks is to showcase area businesses and give everyone a chance to participate in a community-wide social event, which will include snacks and musical performances by local artists.

Initial participants on Third Avenue include The Dancing Bear, Greco Gallery, Gwendolyn’s, “Untitled” Used & Rare Books, AMO Gallery and Framery, Door County Music Company, and Small World Market.

Since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the staff of HELP of Door County is also planning to distribute information on domestic abuse prevention and other free fun giveaways.

Organizers of this first event are hoping visitors as well as local residents will come downtown to experience a bit of nightlife and enjoy the local culture and art in a relaxed atmosphere. The intent is to expand the event throughout the city as other galleries and shops come aboard to participate.
