Jonathan Bass Earns Peninsula Music Festival Scholarship

The Peninsula Music Festival (PMF, musicfestival.com) has selected Washington Island native Jonathan Bass, a recent graduate of Michigan’s Interlochen Arts Academy, to receive its 2019 College Scholarship Award. This fall, Bass will attend Lawrence University’s Conservatory of Music, where he’ll work on a bachelor of music degree in piano performance and pursue a second major in English or math.

Each year PMF awards a $3,000 scholarship to a graduating senior who desires to further his or her music education and who has been an outstanding music student with demonstrated performing ability and a sustained interest in music. PMF will honor Bass at the Aug. 8 concert.

“Jonathan is a focused young man who continues to push himself to grow as a musician, which will ultimately bring him that much closer to the goals he’s setting for himself,” said Christoph Ptack, PMF’s executive director.

PMF’s education outreach programs also include summer music awards, internships, the Karen Smuda Emerging Conductor Program and the $10 student ticket program
