Katie Dahl at Jacksonport Town Hall Bakery

On Oct. 18 at 7 pm, Door County singer-songwriter Katie Dahl will present a concert of folk music at the historic Jacksonport Town Hall Bakery. The evening will feature new original songs and old-time favorites from the popular musician, appearing in her last Wisconsin concert of the fall season before she leaves on a St. Louis/East coast tour.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel writes, “Katie Dahl…combine[s] old-fashioned populism, an abiding love of the land and wickedly smart love songs, all delivered in a rich and expressive alto.”

Indeed, the depth and power of Dahl’s alto voice, the literate candor of her original songs, and the easy humor of her live performances have earned her a devoted fan following in Door County and beyond. She performs regularly throughout the peninsula and frequently tours the rest of the country. She is also known to local audiences as the co-author of American Folklore Theatre’s hit musical Victory Farm.

In addition to sharing stages with some of America’s most respected songwriters, including Julie Gold, Cheryl Wheeler, and Dar Williams, Dahl has received numerous songwriting accolades, including Big Top Chautauqua’s Songwriter of the Year in 2010, 2nd place in the Wisconsin Singer-Songwriter Series’ Songwriting Contest in 2012, and 2nd place in Great River Folk Festival’s songwriting contest last month in La Crosse.

Joining Dahl on the 18th will be Rich Higdon on bass, washboard, and spoons.

Tickets cost $15 and seating will be general admission. Call 920.823.2116 to make advance reservations. For more information, visit katiedahlmusic.com.
