K/D Salmon Tournament Annouces Winners

Jeff Bobula of Poplar, Wisconsin who fished with boat owner and friend Bryan Hannula of South Range in Douglas County won the top prize of $10,000 cash for the 43-inch, 32.02-pound Chinook he reeled in and registered at the 57 Depot in Baileys Harbor.

In addition to the cash, Scott Mansur of Northland Taxidermy of Algoma will mount Bobula’s winning fish. Bobula will also receive a sterling silver salmon ring with a diamond eye from former Door County resident, Paul Spanbauer of http://www.wisconsincharm.com.

Finishing second and winning a $2,000 cash prize and a pair of Scotty’s newest electronic downriggers worth $1,500 was Andy Zellmer of Forestville. Third place and $1,000 in cash was awarded to Mark Alberts of Fremont.

Nearly $50,000 in cash and prizes was awarded over the course of the tournament.

Other area tournaments include Algoma’s Shanty Days “Full Moon” Fishing Contest, which will run until August 14. Tickets are available at the Algoma Marina.
