Keller Wins Design Awards for Hatch Distilling

Keller has earned two 2019 Excellence in Design awards from American Buildings Company for its design and construction of Hatch Distilling Company in Egg Harbor.

The Excellence in Design competition recognizes building projects that are outstanding in design and architecture and that illustrate the various applications of metal building systems. American Buildings Company chose Hatch as the first-place winner in the retail category and the bronze winner for overall Building of the Year for its unusual design, which demonstrates innovative metal construction.

Hatch is a 7,300-square-foot batch distillery that crafts spirits with Door County organic grains and honey. The project was built for father/son co-owners Russ and Chris Roedl, who had initially sought to remodel an existing building but ultimately decided to build one after finding a vacant Egg Harbor property.

“We are pleased to be recognized as we worked hard with Keller to build a facility that organically integrates production and retail under one roof,” Chris Roedl said. “We are proud of our place in the Village of Egg Harbor.”

The distillery’s contemporary design is the first of its kind in historic Door County since Hatch opened its doors in July 2018. At the distillery, guests can enjoy the tasting room, visit an educational area that showcases the use of local grains and honey to create distilled spirits and view the area dedicated to in-house spirit distillery.

Keller is a 100 percent employee-owned firm that specializes in new construction, remodels, retrofits and reroofing projects. It has offices in the Fox Cities, Madison, Milwaukee and Wausau.
