Kewaunee County Clean Sweep a Big Success

Kewaunee County Emergency Management reported a successful 2021 Clean Sweep event at the Kewaunee County Hillside Highway Shop in Casco.

During the event, volunteers – with the help of Veolia, which specializes in hazardous-waste disposal – collected approximately 8,758 pounds of unwanted agricultural and household hazardous-waste items from more than 165 participants, breaking multiple records.

“The focus of this event is to encourage proper disposal methods versus using the trash, causing unnecessary contamination,” said Tracy Nollenberg, director of Kewaunee County Emergency Management. To make it convenient, participants drove up, and the items were collected from vehicles.

This service was made possible with grants from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and funding from Kewaunee County Families and Communities Encouraging Success.
