Kewaunee County High Schools Partner with NWTC and KCEDC to Offer More College Credit Courses

High school students in Kewaunee County will now have access to more college credit courses in high school through a partnership between Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) and the Algoma, Kewaunee and Luxemburg-Casco school districts along with the Kewaunee County Economic Development Corporation (KCEDC). On April 27, NWTC President Dr. Jeff Rafn along with the superintendents of Algoma, Kewaunee and Luxemburg-Casco school districts made the partnership official with the charter signing for the newly formed Ahnapee Regional Technical Academy (ARTA).

The ARTA allows students to explore their career interests while earning high school and college credit at the same time. Students gain valuable hands-on experience in jobs that are especially needed in Kewaunee County and in northeast Wisconsin.

Fall 2017 ARTA program offerings include: Algoma – CNC, Machine Tool, Emergency Medical Technician; Kewaunee – Agriculture, Welding, Electro-mechanical; Luxemburg-Casco – IT-Software Developer, AP Coursework. All three high schools participate in the Nursing Assistant program offered through the NWTC Regional Learning Center in Luxemburg.

Students may enroll in these classes at their own school or another based on their interests. However, they will maintain their home school enrollment status. There are no additional fees for students although they are responsible for their own transportation.
