Kewaunee County Tavern League Gives to Veterans

The Kewaunee County Tavern League (KCTL) of Wisconsin surprised the Kewaunee County Veteran Service Commission with a $1,500 check for its Veterans Relief Fund during a September meeting.

The KCTL raised the money during its 25th annual golf outing at Royal Scot Golf Course, where American Legion Posts 29, 262 and 538 provided veteran support and a color guard.

“This is our small contribution to help the veterans out,” said Judy Vandenhouten, KCTL president. “We also wanted to do something special since it was our 25th year for the golf outing.”

The Veterans Relief Fund helps veterans and their families who are in need with assistance to pay for rent, doctor and energy bills, clothing, gas and groceries.

“During this time of uncertainty, it is great to see an organization bring community involvement to raise money that will assist our local veterans and their families,” said Robert Stearns, Kewaunee County veterans service officer.
