Kewaunee County Transportation Program Needs Volunteer Drivers

The Kewaunee County Department of Human Services is looking for volunteers who can help give senior citizens and residents with disabilities rides to appointments, shopping and more. In 2017, the Transportation Program in Kewaunee County provided more than 1,300 rides for residents through the use of volunteers.

These trained drivers use their own vehicles and are reimbursed for mileage, unless a wheelchair accessible van is requested and then a vehicle is provided by Kewaunee County.

Volunteers must undergo screening, possess a valid driver’s license and have completed orientation of the Transportation Program.

Transportation is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, excluding holidays. Suggested service rates paid to Kewaunee County by individuals needing transportation:  Local Meal Site – $2, City Limits – $5, Kewaunee County – $10, Neighboring County (Brown, Door and Manitowoc) – $20.
