Kewaunee Organizes Food and Hygiene Drive

The Giving for Sara Food and Hygiene Drive, organized by Kewaunee County Public Health and Human Services, is in its ninth year of making a difference in the community. Donations of healthful, nonperishable food; personal-hygiene products; and monetary funds help to stock the shelves of area food pantries and help community members in need.

Suggestions for donations include canned chicken or tuna (packed in water), canned fruit or fruit cups (packed in water or fruit juice), healthful cereal and granola bars, shampoo, conditioner, diapers, baby wipes, deodorant and soap. Check the expiration dates because expired items cannot be accepted.

Donors may also mail checks – payable to “Kewaunee County,” with “Giving for Sara Food and Hygiene Drive” in the memo line – to Kewaunee County Health and Human Services, 810 Lincoln St., Kewaunee, WI 54216. Receipts will be available.

Donations of nonperishable food and personal-hygiene products will also be accepted Dec. 1-31 at the same address.

This effort honors the memory of Sara Malay, who died unexpectedly in 2013 while serving as director of the county’s Aging Services Unit. If you have questions, please call 920.388.7160.
