Kewaunee Partners With Prevea for Skin Cancer Awareness

It’s estimated that skin cancer strikes one in five people in their lifetime, and the Kewaunee County Public Health Department is partnering with Prevea to increase awareness in the community. The public is invited to a free examination for skin cancer on Saturday, April 7, at the Prevea Luxemburg Health Center, 101 School Creek Trail, from 9 am to noon. Medical professionals will offer spot checks, discuss the signs of skin cancer and share advice on how to protect your skin. “The single best way to protect yourself is to use sunscreen any time that you’re outdoors,” said Cindy Kinnard, RN, director of Kewaunee County Public Health Department. “The sun is out year round, so we need UV protection in spring, summer, fall and winter too.” The skin cancer screening is open to all age groups. To register and schedule an appointment, call the Kewaunee County Public Health Department at 920.388.7160.
