Kewaunee Senior Earns Thomas H. Lutsey-Waseda Farms Scholarship

Kewaunee High School senior Hailey Gaedtke has earned one of five $10,000 Thomas H. Lutsey-Waseda Farms scholarships. She’s the first Kewaunee graduate to receive the scholarship.

As a sixth-generation farmer on her family’s dairy farm, which began in 1885, Gaedtke says she has “busy feet.” Her commitment to hard work has served her well away from the farm, too, as a longtime participant in FFA and 4-H and as president of her 4-H club. She was a three-sport athlete and achieved a 3.9 grade point average. Gaedtke plans to study agricultural business at UW-River Falls. To be considered for the scholarship, students must – among other qualifications – be planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university and be committed to pursuing a career in agriculture that will enhance Wisconsin’s rural communities.
