Kickstart TAP’s Intern Fund

Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) has launched its annual Kickstarter fundraising campaign. The goal is $7,500 and all funds raised during this campaign will go towards TAP’s Intern Fund. The deadline to reach the goal is Sept. 28 at 8 pm. If the goal is not reached by that time, all pledged money will be returned in full to the donors.

The Intern Fund covers basic expenses such as housing, transportation, and a small weekly stipend. Interns are recruited from college theatre programs to spend their summers working alongside the professional company at TAP. This year’s crop of interns came from Lawrence University in Appleton, and Bard College in New York.

Internship opportunities are an important component of an arts degree, and an important part of TAP’s mission to provide educational opportunities in the performing arts. Most arts programs require internships in order to graduate. Interns receive valuable practical experience, and TAP receives much needed help from these young, talented men and women just starting out on their careers.

The video accompanying this year’s Kickstarter campaign was conceived, written, shot, and performed by four of this summer’s interns: Jenny Angeli, Anya Kopischke, Sophie Hernando-Kofman and Luke MacMillan. You can watch their video by going to kickstarter.com and searching for 2014 TAP Internship.
