Kite Day in Sister Bay

The skies over the soccer field at the Sister Bay Sports Complex were bursting with color July 16 when members of the Wisconsin Kiters Club flew large, brightly colored kites during the first annual Kite Day. More than 250 people attended to see the kites bob and weave through the air.

One hundred kids of all ages also received free kite kits, and, with the help of expert Kiters Club members, they decorated, built and flew their creations alongside the larger, professional ones. Some enthusiasts also took their own kites and also purchased new ones that were being sold at the event.

Jeff Kuhns, a local Wisconsin Kiters Club member who helped the Sister Bay Advancement Association (SBAA) organize Kite Day, flew trick kites and answered questions from attendees about the art of kite flying. The SBAA will partner with the club for more kite-flying events in 2023.
