Kits Ready for Door Peninsula Winery’s Virtual Tasting

In May, the Door Peninsula Winery in Carlsville began hosting wine tastings virtually via Zoom and Facebook Live.

“We started back at the height of quarantine, and it’s grown from there,” said marketing director Beth Levendusky. “All season we’ve been looking for ways to see more of our customers, but safely.”

The winery will host its fifth virtual tasting Dec. 2 and plans to continue them through the winter and into the next season. Join Milwaukee radio personality Elizabeth Kay from 99.1 The Mix, who helps to facilitate the tastings; and the host, Door Peninsula Winery’s head winemaker, Allan Hyland.

During the virtual tasting, participants will taste five wines, learn about their composition and notes, and hear stories about how they came to be. Then participants will have the opportunity to pose questions in real time.

“You can ask [Allan Hyland] questions directly, which isn’t something that’s usually available,” Levendusky said.

The tasting will also be available for streaming later on the winery’s Facebook page.

The tasting kits include one bottle each of White Christmas, Red Christmas, Mulled Christmas, Cranbernet and Bourbon Barrel Cabernet. With the wine purchase, also choose a half-pound of the winery’s homemade fudge in candy cane, buttered rum or hot cocoa flavors.

The tasting will take place Dec. 2, 6 pm, on Zoom and Facebook Live. All participants will receive full details in their kit and an email with Zoom credentials. Order a kit at store.dcwine.com/winery/product/virtual-tasting-kit-elizabeth-kay. For kits shipping outside the Midwest, order before Nov. 27.
