Kress Classical Concert

On Nov. 9 at 4:30 pm, the Kress Pavilion will host a lively classical concert with selections from early Baroque through the present, including selections by Amy Beach, William Byrd, Bach and Béla Bartók.

Beth Chafey-Hon, violinist, violist and composer; and Sara Bong, collaborator/pianist, make their Door County debut as a duo in “Classical Dance Suites by the Famous B’s!” They are performing with added percussion, multimedia displays and young students from Andria’s Dancin’ On the Door studio.

Chafey-Hon has performed concerts for more than 40 years. She moved to Wisconsin in 2001, where she earned her violin performance bachelor’s degree at UW-Oshkosh. Chafey-Hon has released three CDs, titled Textured Violin, World on a String and Textured Violin Classix #2; and she is working on Desert Song Cycle.

Bong has enjoyed a long and varied career both on stage and behind the scenes. As vice president/director of program development for MidAmerica Productions in New York City for more than 25 years, she was responsible for the creation and administration of hundreds of events at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and numerous venues abroad. She made her Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 16, performing by invitation alongside famed pianist Eugene List.

Doors open at 4 pm, with the concert starting at 4:30 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. For more information and to buy tickets, visit Kresspavilion.org or doorcountytickets.com.
