LA Novelist Signs Books at Novel Ideas

California novelist Sara Kuhns hails from LA, but has strong ties to Door County. The sister of singer/songwriter Jeanne Kuhns and aunt to Eli Mattson of America’s Got Talent fame, will be at Novel Ideas Bookstore in Baileys Harbor on Saturday, November 28, from 1 – 3, signing copies of her first, self-published novel, A Sigh for Life’s Completion.

A literary take on a gothic tale, A Sigh For Life’s Completion addresses alienation and the desire to belong, the hunger for love and purpose in life, and the struggle to do what is right – even if what is right is not what is good. The story follows Paul Christian, a seemingly mortal man with numerous special abilities who functions in this world as a low-key crime novelist and a vampire. Paul leads a cautious and comfortable life – until he falls in love with Lauren.

Kuhns has a gift for dialogue and distinctive imagery; her prose is magical and intoxicating in the ebb and flow of words that bring the reader into a world of crime and passion, the trials of day to day life under special circumstances, love and heartbreak, and a search for answers and family.

Kuhns is a Chicago native who spent years teaching at inner city Chicago Public Schools then headed west to teach in Phoenix before settling in LA to write. Her varied life experiences in urban environs and her multicultural work with students has given her a wonderful ability to construct an amazing and authentic community within her novel.
